I’ll try out this platform for blogging - I wanted to make a new tumblr account, but I haven’t been active there in 10+ years, and I didn’t realize it was trying to become a Twitter clone.
A brief manifesto: social media is cluttering our minds. The infinite scroll was a mistake.
I’d love to indulge in all the dumphone-culture devices: the portable word processors, the fancy MP3 players, etc. But I already have an iPhone. I have this supercomputer in my pocket. And I still want to sell a couple things on Facebook Marketplace. So I’m going to slow-roll it. That means getting a portable keyboard that syncs up with my iPhone to write on the go, rather than lugging around a whole laptop that has distractions, or paying $200 for a used word processor device or contributing $300 to a kickstarter for the modern word processor gadgets. I don’t plan to upgrade to a fancy camera over my iPhone camera - but I do want to print out more photos to share and enjoy in my scrapbooking.
I want to disconnect without breaking the bank. So that’s the experiment. Follow along!
